The numbers may be changed to the appropriate move number, see the examples below. (The numbering on the document has no affect on how KnightEdit reads the game, except the KnightEdit window will display a one when it starts reading each game parameter.)
Finally, this may be used to set up different variations of a game opening. For example, the Ruy Lopez opening that you may be studying may have 22 different variations which can be set up by this technique to show the different posibilities. WOW. What a tool. A final note, put all captions between game parameters as I am doing here. Try to keep only the game within its own parameters.
So how is this done?
(1) Set up the initial game parameters for the first part of a partial game.
(2) Remember the positions of the chess pieces and the player having the right to move.
(3) Press the New Game button.
(4) Press the Set Chess Pieces on Board button within the Enter the Title of Chess Game dialog box.
(5) Once the pieces are in position, press the Set button. Enter a new Title for the Chess game and save.
(6) Move the chess pieces to the desired number of moves.
(7) Change the read and write permission to read only. This will protect each game parameter.
(8) Change the move numbers in each of the game parameters following the the initial game.
See the Ruy Lopez Variations as an example of the split technique.
